Will Babylon movie release in India?

Some of the Indian fans were very excited after the first trailer of this period comedy, but there is a bad update.

Babylon movie was going to release in India on 03 February 2023. But it was removed from PVR and BookMyShow just a few days before the data. Paramount Pictures confirmed it before but now it looks like it will never get a theatrical screening in India.

We don’t know the exact reason behind the delay, maybe they want to not compete with Avatar The Way of Water, or want an empty slot in the release calendar.

The movie includes big actors like Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, Tobey Maguire, Deigo Calva, Li Jun Li, Max Minghella, Olivia Wilde, and Jean Smart. It is directed by an Academy Award-winning filmmaker.

It is also giving good reviews for the acting and story, but there are some complaints about its 3-hour long runtime.

Hindi dubbing or not?

There is no official confirmation about its dubbing status in India. It looks like the Babylon movie will not release in Hindi, Tamil, or Telugu languages. And since it is debuting this late, we don’t think it will ever happen, at least for the theatrical release.

But the streaming partner can do it later.

OTT Streaming Update

Movies distributed by Paramount Pictures will digitally release on Paramount+, and this might have the same fate. It might get digitally available around March or April 2023. But that service is not available here, so where will it land?

The OTT platform for Babylon will be Amazon Prime Video in India. This is because many of their 2022’s films like Top Gun Maverick and The Lost City are already on it in the country.

Age Rating?

Babylon has an R rating which means it must have an A certificate from the Indian Censor Board. This is because it has lots of graphic content, not suitable for anyone under 18. Don’t watch it with the kids for sure!

About the Movie

Babylon is one of the biggest Oscar-winning contenders of this year. Its director is Damien Chazelle, who also made Whiplash (2014), La La Land (2016), and First Man (2018). It has already been nominated for Golden Globes and Critic’s Choice Awards.

This story of Babylon revolves around the time of Hollywood when the first sound films were getting developed and their impact on the entertainment industry.

The USA release date of Babylon is set for the 2022’s Christmas weekend. However, it was supposed to come out last year but the studio has some other plans as you see.

A fun fact, in the end, Leonardo DiCaprio and Emma Stone were considered for the lead roles.

Finally, here is the official synopsis for the film (via babylonmovie.com): “From Damien Chazelle, Babylon is an original epic set in 1920s Los Angeles. A tale of outsized ambition and outrageous excess, it traces the rise and fall of multiple characters during an era of unbridled decadence and depravity in early Hollywood.”
