Last updated on 31 May 2022.

Find out everything you need to know about the Top Gun 2 release in India in Hindi, along with 3D, IMAX and OTT updates.

Top Gun Maverick Release Date in India

The official release date of Top Gun Maverick in India is 27 May 2022. But there is a way for fans to watch it earlier.

In some theatres, there are early screenings happening for Top Gun 2 on 26 May 2022. That means you can watch it one day before anyone else.

The movie is getting some fantastic reviews from critics as well as fans. Some reviews stated that it is even better than the original Top Gun.

Will it be in 3D?

No, the new Top Gun movie has not been converted into 3D. But that was the right decision. From the flight scenes we all saw from the trailer, those wouldn’t have looked great in 3D format.

Is Top Gun Maverick releasing in IMAX?

Top Gun Maverick is partially filmed in the IMAX format. It has a 1.90:1 aspect ratio on IMAX screens for more than 50% of the footage. The movie is shot with Sony’s Venice camera which is certified by the company under their “Filmed for IMAX” program.

Check out the IMAX trailer here:

Please don’t compare these cameras with the 70mm IMAX cameras that were used in Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk. They are superior in video quality.

But still, experiencing this movie in this premium format would be great fun. It will be visually stunning!

Is it dubbed in Hindi, Tamil & Telugu?

Paramount Pictures India knows that India has a huge fanbase for Tom Cruise. That’s why they have decided to dub this movie in all major Indian languages. Top Gun Maverick is officially getting released in India in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.

By the way, the last Paramount movie was Sonic the Hedgehog 2 in India.

What is the OTT streaming date?

While the best way to enjoy a movie like Top Gun is on the big screen, some people will be looking forward to watching it on their favourite streaming platform at home.

The latest update is that there is no confirmation on when it will drop on OTT, but we know whenever it will release digitally, it will stream on the Paramount+ streaming service.

And that service is not available in India, so it is likely that the digital rights will be acquired by someone else. Based on where some of the last Paramount movies were streaming in India, Top Gun will probably stream on Amazon Prime Video.

About the Movie

Top Gun Maverick is the sequel to the 1986’s superhit film Top Gun. The development of the movie began in 2010 and the shooting started in 2018. Tom Cruise also confirmed that all aerial shots are shot in real life, no CGI is used here.

And along with Tom Cruise, the cast includes Jennifer Connelly, Miles Teller, Val Kilmer, Bashir Salahuddin, Jon Hamm, and Monica Barbaro. The movie has a runtime of 2 hours and 11 minutes.

The official synopsis for the movie reads (via “After more than thirty years of service as one of the Navy’s top aviators, Pete “Maverick” Mitchell is where he belongs, pushing the envelope as a courageous test pilot and dodging the advancement in rank that would ground him. When he finds himself training a detachment of TOP GUN graduates for a specialized mission the likes of which no living pilot has ever seen, Maverick encounters Lt.
