Doctor Strange 2 Tickets Booking Starts in India

One of the most anticipated movies of 2022, ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ is finally coming to the theatres near you.

The Tickets are now available for the public. ‘Marvel India’ announced on 09 April 2022 that ticket booking for ‘Doctor Strange 2’ has started. Here is the official announcement via their Twitter:

This is strange to see that tickets are out this early in India. Usually, ticket booking in India for any Hollywood movie starts just a week before its release date. Doctor Strange 2 is releasing in India on 06 May 2022.

While in the USA, they start selling tickets one month before the release, Indian moviegoers are not used to that trend. The fun fact here is that it has broken pre-sale ticket records by The Batman (2022) in the USA.

It looks like this is an experiment by Indian theatre owners and Marvel’s India division to create buzz for the movie.

Tickets started with IMAX and 4DX

Initially, the Doctor Strange 2 tickets in India were only out for two premium formats: IMAX & 4DX. This is because these formats are loved by fans. Also, these have higher ticket prices, making them more profitable for theatre owners.

IMAX is a large movie format that is known for its excellent video quality. But the main advantage of watching a movie in IMAX have a 1.90:1 expanded ratio.

India currently has 21 IMAX theatres in the following cities: Delhi, Noida, Gurgaon, Mumbai, Pune, Thane, Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata & Lucknow. In my opinion, IMAX is the best format to experience Doctor Strange 2.

4DX is another great option to watch this Marvel epic. Not only will you get 3D viewing, but you also have motion seats that move with the action scenes. There are also scent, rain and fog effects to enhance your experience.

Tickets for other formats are also getting updated in other cities. Note that if you are planning on watching it in Hindi, Mohan Kapur will not be back to dub for Doctor Strange in this sequel.

1. Download the ‘BookMyShow’ app and search ‘Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness’.
2. If tickets are available, you can see this option: ‘Book Tickets’.
3. If tickets are not available, you will get this option: ‘I’m Interested’. Click it. Now, you will be notified when tickets will be updated.

High Ticket Prices in India

While tickets were out so soon, most fans were shocked by the high ticket prices. The prices are 20-30% higher than ‘Avengers: Endgame’ or ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’. IMAX shows in Delhi are starting from ₹600 for morning shows to ₹900 for later ones.

This might be due to various reasons: current inflation in the country, high demand for this movie and the new price rates by theatre owners after the pandemic has ended.

But I think these high ticket prices will also help in increasing the box-office collection in India for Doctor Strange 2. On the other hand, No Way Home has passed ₹200 crores in India, making it the 3rd Hollywood movie to achieve this milestone.
