When will The Fall Guy movie Release in India? (IMAX & OTT?)

Last updated on 01 May 2024.

Ryan Gosling (literally me) is here with another movie that looks like a blockbuster! So when can we see The Fall Guy in theatres?

The Fall Guy Release Date in India

It is rare to see but this time, a Hollywood movie is premiering early in India.

The Fall Guy will be released in India on 1 May 2024. It will be available in English and Hindi languages.

While the official release date is still Friday according to Universal Pictures India, many ticketing platforms have updated some early shows on 1 May (only in English), with IMAX shows opening on 2 May.

But if you want to watch it in Hindi, you have to wait until 3 May. Here is the official Hindi Trailer to decide whether you want to see it in cinema or not:

Other than normal 2D, such types of action films are best to watch on a bigger screen. You can watch it in ScreenX and 4DX formats also (without 3D), but I will personally recommend IMAX.

While The Fall Guy is not shot with IMAX cameras, nor does it have any scenes in their expanded aspect ratio, it will be digitally remastered for a better experience on IMAX screens.

The film is also getting good reviews from critics for its story, acting and plot. Some are calling it “a love letter to the art of movie stunts”. So, if you love watching real practical stunts and how movies get made, with some fun twists, this is for you.

Along with that, there is Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt in lead roles, reviving the Barbenheimer vibes, because Ryan starred in Barbie, while Emily was in Oppenheimer.

Still, The Fall Guy is not expected to have a big box office in India, as it is not a big superhero movie, and it is not part of some big franchise.

But if the audience’s reactions are amazing, some people will wait to see it later. So, when will it drop online?

OTT Streaming Update

The Fall Guy is distributed by Universal Pictures and their exclusive streaming platform is Peacock in the USA. However, since it is not still there in India, we have to look for other options.

The Fall Guy will be streaming on JioCinema in India. The digital premiere date is yet to be announced, but we have to wait at least till July.

JioCinema has partnered with many Hollywood studios and all recent Universal films have streamed on Jio’s OTT service, including Oppenheimer.

About The Movie

The Fall Guy is loosely based on a 1980s TV series where the lead character uses his ‘stunts’ skills to capture criminals.

However, this movie gave it a more romantic-comedy-adventure twist, where the hero gets involved into an unknown conspiracy where his ‘stunts’ skills then come into play to save him.

Overall, the film is about stunts in the movie industry, and that’s why it used lots of practical stunts, with it getting the world record for most car cannon rolls.

David Leitch, who was once a stuntman himself, is sitting in the director’s chair. He had worked on John Wick and made big hits like Bullet Train, Hobbs & Shaw, Atomic Blonde, and Deadpool 2.

I really like his work in Bullet Train and this looks like something in the same genre but with more focus on action scenes.

And if you are still on the edge to watch it, there are more familiar names in the cast list. Aaron-Taylor Johnson (Avengers Age of Ultron) is there, along with Winston Duke (Black Panther), and Stephanie Hsu (Everything Everywhere All At Once).

Finally, here is the official synopsis for the film (via thefallguymovie.com): “A new hilarious, hard-driving, all-star apex-action thriller and a love letter to action movies and the hard-working and under-appreciated crew of people who make them: The Fall Guy. Colt Seavers (Ryan Gosling), a battle-scarred stuntman who, having left the business a year earlier to focus on both his physical and mental health, is drafted back into service when the star of a mega-budget studio movie—being directed by his ex, Jody Moreno (Emily Blunt), by goes missing. While the film’s ruthless producer manoeuvres to keep the disappearance of star Tom Ryder (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) a secret from the studio and the media, Colt performs the film’s most outrageous stunts while trying to charm his way back into Jody’s good graces. But as the mystery around the missing star deepens, Colt will find himself ensnared in a sinister, criminal plot that will push him to the edge of a fall more dangerous than any stunt.”
