Oppenheimer Release Date in India
Nolan’s films are loved by both critics and fans, so the hype is so real this time.
The official release date of Oppenheimer in India is 21 July 2023. This is the same day when it will premiere in the USA, UK and Canada. It is written and directed by Christopher Nolan.
The movie is about J. Robert Oppenheimer, who is known as ‘the Father of the Atomic Bomb’ for his research in creating the first nuclear weapons. This is kind of his biography, including his works in The Manhattan Project and his Personal Life.

Another interesting thing is that it will clash with the Barbie movie, that is going to be big clash, but we can enjoy both as a double feature.
Oppenheimer in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu?
Oppenheimer will only be available in English and Hindi in India, and not getting dubbed in Tamil and Telugu languages.
This might be due to the fact that it is distributed by Universal Pictures, (and not Warner Bros), which is not known for wide releases for most of its films internationally.
They did great in 2023 with Fast X’s huge collection at Indian box-office, which had Tamil and Telugu shows, but they don’t that for all. They skipped the dubbing in local languages (except Hindi) for Super Mario Bros Movie as well.
We understand that this is quite strange for such a big feature film that is going to sell a lot of tickets because of Nolan’s name. Tamil and Telugu markets even contribute a good chunk on the box-office collection, especially from Chennai and Hyderabad theaters.
We can only hope that when Oppenheimer will get an OTT release in India, they may add more audio options in all major languages.
What is Oppenheimer’s Age Rating in India?
Oppenheimer got officially got a U/A Certificate in India by Film Certification Board. This means that a person of any age, even if you are under 18 years old, can watch this movie in the theatre. Note that it still might contain some intimiate scenes.
This all has been quite confusing. initially when the tickets came out for IMAX shows, some booking websites marked it as a UA film. This confused many people because it got an R rating in the USA that is equivalent to A certificate in our country.
But according to final listing by CBFC, Oppenheimer received a UA age rating with minor cuts only.
But these websites changed it when normal tickets came out. So, this is the finalized age rating now. However, we can’t be sure that the censor board might cut, blur or crop something in it even with this A rating.

About the Movie
Oppenheimer is one of the most anticipated movies ever in the history of Hollywood because of 3 major reasons: Christopher Nolan, 70mm and its Cast.
Nolan has made masterpieces like Inception, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Interstellar. He knows how to mix thrilling drama and amazing visuals in one.
Then, Oppenheimer is a 70mm IMAX film after a long time. We can say that each frame of it will have the best quality possible.
Last but not the least, the cast is humongous. Cilian Murphy is leading the list in the titular role, joined by Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr, Matt Damon and Florence Pugh. Rami Malek, Josh Hartnett, Kenneth Branagh, David Dastmalchian, Gary Oldman are also a part of it.
Oppeheimer is definitely going to be the big buzzword for this year and might continue to win big in the next year’s Academy Awards.
Finally, there is no official synopsis of the film, except this small marketing copy: “Oppenheimer is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer by Kai Bird and the late Martin J. Sherwin. It is an epic thriller that thrusts audiences into the pulse-pounding paradox of the enigmatic man who must risk destroying the world in order to save it.”
