Kyari on Shark Tank India
Welcome to the first match-off of Shark Tank India season 4! The rules are simple: the sharks will first hear pitches from two businesses, but they can’t reveal their investment decision until both pitches are over. This is a great way to add some gamification to the reality show.
But the best part is that the sharks don’t have to choose only one, they can invest in both if they want. Kyari was fighting with Nurturing Green today, and both have plant nursery brands.
Here are the key details about their pitch on Shark Tank:
Name | Kyari |
Founders | Agam Choudhary, Saksham Jain |
Episode | Season 4 Episode 9 |
Deal | No Deal |
Shark | N/A |
Status | In-business |
Kyari is a green decor brand. They have introduced a self-watering plant to the Indian market that provides the correct amount of water to the soil automatically to keep the plant healthy.
Their key product lines include plants, self-watering planters and fertilisers. But I believe their most unique item is Self-Watering Globes that you can use with your existing plants also. You can get it from Amazon (*Affiliate Link):

H3- What to learn from them?
Here are some of the key learning from the company’s pitch:
- Good Branding: Anupam and Kunal pointed out that their name, logo and product design are quite cool.
- Unique Products: They have some non-traditional nursery items in their catalogue like globes and water meters.
Did Kyari get the deal on Shark Tank?
The co-founders asked for ₹80 lakhs for 0.8% equity. They have done sales of ₹9.54 crores in FY 2023-24 but they were not profitable.
That was not the only issue as they were running out of working capital, which might result in a money problem soon. That too, combined with 45% of the sales spent on marketing is not something the sharks were excited about.
Shark Kunal also questioned them why they were not still available on the quick commerce platform as it can be a big strategic mistake.
Peyush liked the ambition of the founders to be leaders in the market. He, with Kunal, offered ₹4 crores for 10%. The funding was a lot bigger but so was the equity. Founders didn’t want to dilute that much.

About The Founders
Agam Choudhary and Saksham Jain are the co-founders of Kyari, based in Indore Madhya Pradesh. It is part of their Select Brands family.
Agam has a BTech degree and while studying, he started his first startup robotbanao.com, an online supplier of robotic components. But he wanted to make a big dent in the market.
So, when his brother Saksham discovered that the plant business was growing in India, he found his new purpose.
After The Tank Update
After the pitch aired, the brand website offered good discounts and a free plant for any orders above ₹1,499.
While they didn’t get a deal, Agam shared that he was happy with the insights and feedback. He also missed shark Amit Jain as one of the pitchers for that day.
In another interview, Founder Agam said that their current goal is to just focus on the D2C business and not on corporate landscaping or the B2B segment right now.
By the way, another business featured in this episode was Nurturing Green.
Takeaways
So now you know about Kyari’s pitch on Shark Tank India. I think they should have accepted Kunal’s offer because he was too optimistic about the business.
And if you don’t know who I am? I am Ranish Chauhan a.k.a. Fulmino Fan, a Fan of the Shark Tank show.
