Marvel movies are always filled with VFXs and CGI, so it becomes important to know what formats are best to watch The Marvels. Let’s get the answer!
Watch The Marvels in IMAX
The Marvels is technically the 33rd film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and also the last MCU film of 2023.
The Marvels has more than 30 minutes of footage in the IMAX Expanded 1.90:1 aspect ratio. It is shot with certified Arri Alexa LF and Mini LF Cameras. This makes it the best format to watch this film.
Here is the official IMAX teaser:
With the extra height, IMAX also provides great visual quality, saturation and contrast, and a good boost to the Audio levels. IMAX screens are also usually bigger in size and the expanded ratio always makes it something special.
Initially, the IMAX release was not going to happen. This is because Dune 2 would have taken all the premium screens for about 6 weeks and it was coming out only one week before The Marvels.
Dune sequel is exclusively shot in IMAX and it was going to be big for them, like Oppenheimer.
But that didn’t happen! Dune 2 was moved to 2024 and now this Marvel project has all screens available for them. The Marvels is scheduled to release in India on November 10.
However, Indian fans will get IMAX shows for 2 days only. Bollywood Biggie Tiger 3 will premiere on November 12, and all screens will be allotted to it.
The Wrap reported this first with the update that even the new Hunger Games film will miss out on these premium auditoriums.

What other formats to watch The Marvels?
If IMAX is not something for you, there is always the option of 3D, Dolby, and ScreenX.
The Marvel will also be converted for 3D and IMAX 3D formats. Asian audiences still have a big fanbase for the 3D glasses. Kids enjoy it a lot. Dolby is also a great option, known for the best sound systems.
ScreenX and 4DX are some other interesting formats to try.
4DX will give you the 3D with moving seats and ScreenX has 2 extra screens around you to give a 270-degree experience.
This is the Shortest Movie in the MCU
The Marvels is going to be the shortest MCU movie by runtime with it being just 1 hour and 45 minutes. As of all films made by Marvel Studios till 2023, this is shorter than Thor The Dark World and The Incredible Hulk.
That is concerning because it means it will have less action and less time to tell the story. But maybe it means it will be a lot tighter in pacing. Even Ant-Man and Doctor Strange were less than 2 hours long. Let’s see what happens!
By the way, The longest movie in MCU, as of 2023, is Avengers Endgame clocking 3 hours and 1 minute.
Age Ratings?
‘The Marvels’ has got a PG-13 age rating by the MPAA with some slightly violent action scenes. This is common for a superhero film, so there is nothing to worry about. You can comfortably take your kids with you for this one.
