Both co-founders asked for ₹50 lakhs in return for 10% stakes in their business. They want the funding to create a Mobile App to make their content more accessible.
In 2020, their revenue was about ₹1.15 crores with 40% of that coming from a sponsored partnership with ‘Stayfree’.
Namita started the conversation by telling them that she already knew about the product before. She was interested in this business from the start and ready to use her pharma distribution chain to promote it. That’s why she made the first offer for 25% stakes.
However, Ashneer advised them to expand into a Sanitary pad brand because there they can have bigger revenue. But the founders wanted to focus on the content and education business.
In the end, Namita Thapar closed the deal for 20% equity in exchange for ₹50 lakhs.

Tuhin manages the operations, design and business development of the business. Menstrupedia comic is currently available in 20 languages right now.
After Shark Tank Updates
This is the first time they went for funding via investors. They chose Namita and she is the best Shark for them because she is already a big name in the healthcare sector with ‘Emcure’.
She also has an educational academy ‘YEA India’ which teaches students between 11-18 years of age. That is the right target market for Menstrupedia. Shark Namita Thapar will definitely help them to grow in the right direction.
By the way, other startups pitched in this episode are Skippi Ice pops and Hecoll.
The official company product pitch is “Menstrupedia is a friendly guide to periods which helps girls and women to stay healthy and active during their periods”.
