Pitcher asked for ₹50 Lakhs in return for 2.5% of the business. They want to use this money to expand their distribution in Mumbai. This is because most of their customers are from northern and western Indian states.

All the sharks loved the taste and thinner sliced chips, but Ashneer was concerned about the ₹60 price for one packet and asked if they can reduce it to less than 30.

Sharks Anupam then offered ₹50 lakhs for 20% stakes and Peyush came along with him. Then, Anupam reduced the equity to 10%.

However, Sharks Ashneer and Aman offered a better deal for exactly what the entrepreneur asked for.

In the end, Ashneer Grover and Aman Gupta closed the deal for 2.5% equity in exchange for ₹50 lakhs.

About Manas Madhu

Manas Madhu is the founder of Beyond Snack which makes Kerala Banana Chips. Initially, the company was called ‘Beyond Jak’ where he was selling Jackfruit chips. Later, they started selling Banana Chips in 2020.

He bootstrapped the business with ₹70 lakhs with his father. In 2020-21, their revenue was ₹60 lakhs with a 55% gross margin and 10% profit in the end.

He also got funding from ‘Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana – RAFTAAR’ programme before appearing on Shark Tank.

After Shark Tank Updates

The deal they got is quite good. Shark Ashneer (co-founder of BharatPe) will help him in distribution through his connections. Shark Aman will definitely improve their branding.

Manas wants to become a ₹100 crores business in the next 2 years. He wants to make it a National brand and ultimately sell it to big companies like PepsiCo, as he said in the show. Maybe getting acquired in future is the right strategy.

By the way, other businesses in the episode are ‘EZLYF’ and ‘Motion Breeze’.

The official company product pitch is “Beyond Snacks brings to you authentic banana chips in a variety of flavours. Prepared using superior quality raw materials while maintaining top-notch standards of hygiene, these are the best ever banana chips you will taste!”.
