What is the Dune (2021) movie about?
Dune is a 2021 Sci-Fi movie based on a best-selling novel by Frank Herbert, which is finally getting a true adaptation in a cinematic format. Directed by Denis Villeneuve, it is now out in Cinemas and HBO MAX.
Dune was released on 22 October in India and USA. The cast of the movie includes many popular names who you have seen in some other big blockbuster flicks.

- Oscar Issac (Marvel): Oscar is playing Leto Atreides in Dune. Most fans don’t know but he also played a major role in Marvel’s X-Men Apocalypse (2016) as the main villain.
- David Dastmalchian (Marvel & DC): David also plays a villain as Piter de Vries along with Stellan. He is last seen in DC’s The Suicide Squad as Polka-Dot Man. He also appears in a supporting role as Kurt in Marvel’s Ant-Man franchise.
- Babs Olusanmokun (Marvel & DC): Babs appears in the film as Jamis. Many people will not recognize them, but he appeared in both Marvel and DC shows. He is seen as Mace in one episode of DC’s Gotham, and Sowande in Marvel’s Defender series on Netflix.
The movie also stars Timothée Chalamet in the lead role as Paul Atreides and Rebecca Ferguson (from Mission Impossible movies) as Lady Jessica.
Future of the Dune franchise?
While Dune has got great reviews from both critics and normal moviegoers, we know that this 2021 movie is just a 50% adaptation of the novel. The next half of the story will be seen in a sequel. However, it is not officially confirmed that they will make that film and complete this series.
Dune has the potential to be a major franchise or a universe like MCU and DCEU. Hope we will get new title releases from this amazing storyline.
