The pitchers were looking to raise ₹75 lakhs for a 2% stake in their business. The vision is to become the biggest bread-wala in the country.

The product was delicious and the need was there. But the market was already filled with so many players that acquiring a customer will be expensive and difficult to retain. The price is also higher.

The FY 2021-22 sales were ₹90 lakhs with the number growing with each quarter. The margin was good also but they were still losing money. They also go for the delivery themselves, which might be a bigger problem when they grow bigger.

That becomes the reason behind Vineeta and Aman going out. Namita was already an investor in The Bread Company, which is a direct competitor. Anupam didn’t believe in the health claims, so he also didn’t make an offer.

But all advised to move fast and gain more customers very soon. There is a market for such a product but so much competition.

About The Founders

Vinay Maheshwari and Mohit Sankhala are the co-founders of The Health Factory. The business is based in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

Vinay did his BBA from Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies, while Mohit studied at Mumbai University. They both started The Health Factory in 2017 after finding a need for young India where they want a healthier breakfast option.

Vinay holds the 70% stake with equity not decided to Mohit, till the pitch on the show.

After Shark Tank Updates

While the sharks didn’t invest, they still had the money around the same time. The Health Factory did a ₹2 Crores seed round with Venture Garage & Happilo’s Founder. The money will be spent on building a better team, and marketing efforts.

By the way, other businesses featured in this episode were Z Bats, The Plated Project, and VSnapU Photography.

In the end, the official product pitch can be found here: “We made The Health Factory from three ingredients: the curiosity of finding new ways to improve the same foods, the belief that a single food can provide you with a variety of nutrients, and the desire to redesign nutrition without having to change your lifestyle. We have a team dedicated to R&D that constantly looks for ways to improve product quality & the benefits they offer.
