For all the desi cinephiles, now is your chance to relive The Godfather trilogy in 4K at theatres near you. But the seats are limited.
The Godfather 4K release date in India.
PVR-INOX has announced that all 3 The Godfather movies are re-releasing in India from September to November. They are remastered in 4K to get the best experience on the big screen.
Here’s when to mark your calendars:
- The Godfather: 12 September 2025
- The Godfather Part II: 17 October 2025
- The Godfather Part III*: 14 November 2025
*Part III re-release is officially the new 2020 recut version.The title for it is ‘The Godfather Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone’, the true vision of Coppola, coming to cinema for the first time in India.
Note that the highly acclaimed Part 2 is coming on the Diwali Weekend.
This is a treat for longtime fans as well as anyone who’s yet to witness the saga in the full 4K majesty.
Limited Screenings in India
The Godfather 4K release is part of PVR-INOX’s Curated Shows. They often re-release old famous films from India and Hollywood every week under this program.
The tickets are already out for the first part, at reasonable prices. Some shows are just available for ₹150.
But a major issue for some people will be that only a limited shows are added and that too in limited cities. Some films in the Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities are complaining that there were no shows in their areas.
Even in the whole Delhi-NCR, there were just about 10 shows per day. Most of them were also only for the evening or night.
Still, it’s in 4K and on the big screen. That matters.
If you have only watched The Godfather on streaming or TV, this is a rare chance to feel the scale, the sound, and the cinematography. 4K restoration means a sharper image and richer colours, with the magical look of the film grain.
