Brace yourself, horror buffs, the final Conjuring film is storming the theatres in India, along with new details for its IMAX screenings.
When will The Conjuring Last Rites release?
The Conjuring: Last Rites is releasing in India on 5 September 2025. It will be available in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu languages.
But there is a treat for desi fans too! Warner Bros India has added many late-night shows in IMAX on 4 September as well.
One midnight show is scheduled in many IMAX theatres around the country at 11:50 PM or 11:55 PM. I believe if you are a true horror guy, this is the best spooky time to enjoy it.
Watch the official Hindi trailer here:
Last Rites is officially the last film in the Conjuring series and also the end of the whole universe, which spanned about 9 movies. The whole thing started with The Conjuring in 2013, directed by James Wan. Now, this 4th Conjuring is made by Michael Chaves, who worked on the last one as well.
The story is based on the events of Smurl’s haunting. Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga will return as the Clairvoyant and Demonologist.
Is Conjuring Last Rites shot for IMAX?
There was initially no annoucement from IMAX or Warner Bros Discovery on whether the film will have any scenes in the expanded format.
Even the poster said “Experience in IMAX”, which means that it is just digitally remastered (DMR) for their theatres:

However, new details have emerged. Fans who have watched the film early have confirmed that The Conjuring: Last Rites will have some scenes in the 1.90:1 aspect ratio on IMAX screens.
But the same people said that these taller AR scenes don’t elevate the experience that much. So, I will not recommend spending extra money for IMAX. You can go for Dolby, which is usually cheaper and gives you better sound.
When and where will Conjuring 4 release on streaming?
The Conjuring: Last Rites will be streaming on Amazon Prime Video in India. The previous 3 instalments in the franchise are also on the same OTT platform.
But Hotstar is also a potential contender for the local rights. This is because in the USA, it will drop on HBO MAX, whose content is licensed to Reliance’s Jio. So, don’t get surprised if JioHotstar ultimately adds all the Conjuring films to their catalogue soon.
I will update this article as soon as the official streaming information is provided. But at least, we will have to wait for 2-3 months to watch it at home.
The reviews are also out, and while they are not calling it a great outing, I don’t think anyone will likely skip it because of them.
More about the movie
After the success of The Devil Made Me Do It, there were already plans to make one more story in the same universe. They were officially added to the release slate in 2022, but Chaves was attached as the director in 2024. In the same year they shot it, and finally, the movie is here.
It was also intended as the end of the series from day one. Think of this as the last haunting note in The Conjuring symphony.
At the end, check out the official synopsis for the film: “The Conjuring: Last Rites delivers another thrilling chapter of the iconic Conjuring cinematic universe, based on real events. Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson reunite for one last case as renowned, real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren in a powerful and spine-chilling addition to the global box office-breaking franchise.”
