Rooftop on Shark Tank India
This startup wants to connect the new India with its old art heritage.
Here are the key details about their pitch on Shark Tank:
Name | Rooftop |
Founder | Kartik Gaggar |
Episode | Season 3 Episode 9 |
Ask | ₹2 Crores for 4% Equity |
Deal | No Deal |
Sharks | NA |
Status | In-business |
Rooftop App offers live video courses and workshops to learn more about different art forms of Indian culture. These courses are created by award-winning artists. You can even book workshops both online and offline.
The entrepreneur was asking for ₹2 crores for 4% equity, which means a valuation of ₹50 crores. The plan is to launch an online marketplace soon. The idea was good but the pitch was a little confusing for the sharks.
Sharks thought the business model is quite complex for such an early-stage product and the numbers are not lining up perfectly. They are burning money at the stage, where Anupam questions him whether he has any other plans or not.
This is the reason why Vineeta was out because she thought that the model was not clear and needed more planning. Everyone else has similar views. Anupam was a little harsher than others.
Only Deepinder seemed interested and he wanted to know what the money would be used for. He saw a future in converting it into an online marketplace, but there were already many players in that area.
