Marvel’s Echo Release Date & Time in India (Daredevil Cameo?)

Last updated on 9 January 2024.

MCU’s journey in 2024 will start with this new Disney+ show! Find out all about the release of the Echo series in India, and more updates!

When will the Echo series released in India?

Echo was first introduced in the Hawkeye series, but now we will see the consequences of what she did there, along with exploring her origin.

All the episodes of the Marvel’s Echo series will be streaming in India from 10 January 2024. The exact release time will be 7:30 AM IST. It will be available in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu on Disney+ Hotstar.

Note that while the release date in the USA is 9 January in the evening, the time difference will make it early morning in India.

Here I explained the full news in Hindi on my YouTube channel:

There are only 5 episodes in total this time. But for the first time, this live-action Marvel Disney+ show will be dropping all the episodes on the same day. There will be no weekly schedule. While fans like it, it might also mean that the studio is not so confident about it.

Still, when the trailer came out, it got a good reception from the fans. They are loving the R-rated Action and dark tone, a first for an original MCU show.

The series will continue the story of Maya Lopez aka Echo, who had her debut in 2021’s Hawkeye series. She is played by Alaqua Cox. In the show, we see that Maya is very close to Vincent D’Onofrio Kingpin, but she ultimately crosses him in the end.

Is the Echo series R-rated?

Echo has a TV-MA age rating for the violent fight scenes, which is similar to R-rated for movies. This means that the content is only suitable for adults. So, don’t watch it with children.

This is the first time that a Disney+ Marvel project has been rated TV-MA. The director said that she took inspiration from the Daredevil and Punisher series on Netflix.

Will Daredevil be in the Echo?

Yes, Daredevil, played by Charlie Cox, will appear in the Marvel’s Echo show. He is also featured in the trailers of the series, fighting Echo and other goons.

Here is a screenshot from a new TV spot:

Daredevil in Echo series

Cox first portrayed the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen in the 3 seasons of Daredevil on Netflix and The Defenders. They became fan favorites, so Kevin Feige decided to include them in their main MCU.

He was re-introduced in the MCU with a special appearance in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ movie and ‘She-Hulk’ series. Now he will make a cameo in the Echo. After that, he is planning to do his show on Disney+, titled Daredevil Born Again.

We also know that Vincent D’Onofrio, who plays Kinpin, will also be a big part of the story of Echo. He had confirmed that the Netflix series is connected to MCU. This all means that both these universes are now part of the same timeline.

By the way, these Netflix Marvel shows are now streaming on Hotstar in India.

Is Echo a Hero or Villain?

While Echo is shown as close to villain Kingpin in the MCU, she will eventually become a hero in the universe.

Just like in the comics, Maya was first sent by Kingpin to fight with Daredevil. But she refuses to do that when she finds that Matt Murdock is Daredevil, whom she had fallen in love with.

Maya then leaves the city and has other big adventures, even once meeting Wolverine and becoming Ronin.

About the Show

Even before we saw Echo in the Hawkeye series, it was already set that she would get her show soon. Shooting began in 2022 and was initially scheduled to premiere in 2023, which later got delayed to January 2024. It is directed by Sydney Freeland and Catriona McKenzie.

There were rumors that it was originally going to be 8 episodes but got trimmed down due to quality issues. Initial reviews also pointed out inconsistent storytelling. Still, the trailer looks promising and if the action is good, it might become a Hit.

Also, a unique fact here is that the studio is releasing it under the “Marvel Spotlight”  banner, which means it might have little ties to the grander Universe storyline.

Finally, here is a short synopsis of the series (via marvel.com): “The origin story of Echo revisits Maya Lopez, whose ruthless behavior in New York City catches up with her in her hometown. She must face her past, reconnect with her Native American roots, and embrace the meaning of family and community if she ever hopes to move forward.
