Barosi is an organic food brand where all items are made from natural ingredients using traditional methods. They sell milk, ghee, filter coffee, butter, etc.

The ask was for ₹50 lakhs for 2% shares, to make it a PAN India household name.
They did ₹4 crores in revenue in FY 2021-22 with 70% of it coming from milk and 20% from ghee.
The pitch started off well with an amazing tagline: We connect Bharat to India. Every shark also liked the taste. But later it turned into the wrong side.
Anupam was not satisfied with the stagnant sales and justification that about 6 months were spent just to change the branding. Vineeta pointed out the lack of social media presence. For Peyush, it clashed with his other investment in Humpy A2 from season 01.
While each shark went out, they all advised the entrepreneur to showcase how Barosi is different from other brands in this competitive space, find a hero product that can save them, and reduce the SKUs by focusing on some selective things.
You can get a small glimpse of all of it in this video:
Barosi left the Shark Tank with no deal. But the advice will be priceless for the founder.
About The Founder
Durlabh Rawat is the Founder and CEO of Barosi. His startup operates from Gurgaon, Haryana.
Durlabh first did a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and then started working as a Manager at Eicher Motors and later at Mahindra and Mahindra. After about 12 years of professional life, he moved back to his roots of farming in his village and Barosi was born there.
After Shark Tank Updates
After the episode aired, Barosi hosted a 10% discount sale on their website using coupon code “BAROSISHARK”.
But if you are still thinking, what the company name means? Here is the answer: Barosi is a small pit dug in the ground for heating milk in a clay pot with a simmering flame, where it can get an amazing earthy aroma.
By the way, other businesses featured in this episode were Mahantam and Mindpeers.
In the end, we can check their official company pitch: “Barosi is a D2C authentic food brand, that caters to educated and aspirational middle class residing in urban India. From the farms to your doorstep, the product you receive is the best quality locally produced in the most economically sustainable way. We talk about a simpler and slower life in an innocent manner; it opens up a window to the villages, where traditional wisdom and age-old methods of making food still stand the test of time.”
