Why watch Baahubali: The Epic in IMAX, PCX, or EPIQ?

Last updated on 26 October 2025.

Jai Mahishmati! If you are planning to watch Baahubali: The Epic, this is your perfect cinema guide for all major cinema formats.

Baahubali The Epic Runtime & Release Date

Baahubali: The Epic is a recut version of both Baahubali films: The Beginning and The Conclusion. Both films were re-edited and remastered into a single film to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of this franchise.

It will be released in movie theatres on 29 October in US & many countries, but on 31st October in India. Along with Telugu, it will be available in Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi languages.

Baahubali: The Epic has a runtime of 3 hours and 45 minutes.

If we combine the runtimes of both original films, it would be more than 5 hours. So, the producers made some cuts, including two songs and maybe trimming some comedy or fight scenes, and they have managed to keep it under 4 hours.

But the surprising part is that they actually added some new scenes in the recut version. Nothing specific has been mentioned about these scenes.

But now the real question is which cinema format is best to relive this “epic” saga. Let’s start with IMAX.

Why watch Baahubali: The Epic on IMAX?

IMAX is the best format to watch Baahubali: The Epic.

*Except you are in Hyderabad or South India. Check the next section for them.

There are two reasons to go for IMAX: Taller Aspect Ratio and Technically Better Experience.

Let’s start with the aspect ratio.

Baahubali: The Epic is officially formatted in the 1.90:1 aspect ratio for the IMAX screens.

So, if you get more footage on the IMAX screen compared to any other normal screen:

Some fans know that Baahubali: The Conclusion was actually the first Indian movie to be shot in IMAX’s expanded aspect ratio. Even after Baahubali, only a few movies like RRR or Kantara The Legend have taken advantage of this.

You might not know that even the first part, Baahubali: The Beginning, was also made in the 1.90:1 aspect ratio. However, due to some other reasons, that film didn’t get an IMAX release.

But now Rajamouli has brought both the films in their original aspect ratio and stitched them together. So, this will be the first time you will get a Baahubali film covering the IMAX screen from top to bottom for the complete runtime.

This makes it a rare opportunity to watch Rajamouli’s magnum opus in the true way it was intended.

Then the second factor is the beauty of IMAX itself. Most IMAX theatres have 4K laser projectors, offering great contrast and high brightness. Combine this with their thunderous 12-channel sound system, and it becomes the most immersive experience you can get.

By the way, the background score was also improvised also for this re-release.

If you also look at the IMAX trailer for this recut:

You will notice they have improved the color grading.

If you’re investing time and possibly a higher ticket price, watch it in the best way possible. Treat it like Cinema!

Baahubali: The Epic on PCX and EPIQ

Baahubali is a movie made in the Tollywood industry with Hyderabad as its main circuit. Fans there deserve the best as well. But Hyderabad doesn’t have an IMAX. It used to have one (actually a 70mm IMAX), but not anymore.

Now, the best option to watch Baahubali: The Epic for Hyderabad is at the PCX screen at Prasads.

This is the biggest commerical movie screen in India. While the IMAX is no more, it still has a larger 1.57:1 aspect ratio.

It has been confirmed that Prasads PCX screen will also get the Baahubali The Epic in the 1.90:1 aspect ratio.

Here’s how it will look:
