A Knight of The Seven Kingdoms: Where to Watch in India?

Westeros lore is expanding! We are getting the third show in the Game of Thrones universe, now with a “fun” tone, in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

A Knight of The Seven Kingdoms Release in India

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is streaming in India on JioHotstar from 19 January 2026. It is available in both English and Hindi. It is not dubbed in Tamil and Telugu languages.

While the premiere date is set for 18 January in the USA, we will get in on the 19th because of the time difference between the USA and India. And since HBO content is licensed to JioHotstar in India, that’s the OTT platform to watch all Game of Thrones content.

The release schedule for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ episodes is every Monday at 8:30 AM IST.

There will be 6 episodes in total, with one episode coming every week. If you like to binge, wait for the finale on 23 February. 

Who are Dunk & Egg?

The series is about the journey of two main characters:  Dunk and Egg. 

Dunk, or Ser Duncan the Tall, is a common hedge knight who has come to a Tourney to show his jousting and become a part of some House’s army.

On the other hand, Egg, or Aegon V Targaryen, is a young royal prince who befriends Dunk and becomes his squire.

So, a commoner and a ‘soon-to-be’ king become best buddies. Ultimately, in this season, Dunk has to fight in a jousting competition and become a hero for the common people. That’s why it is a much lighter entry in this universe, because there will be no political games and big battles.

Is it related to Game of Thrones?

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is a Game of Thrones prequel series. It is based on George R.R. Martin’s Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas, set in the same world of Westeros.

The story of this series will begin approximately 90 years before the events of Game of Thrones. Also, it’s set about 80 years after the House of the Dragon timeline.

There are 3 big connections between Game of Thrones and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms:

1. Ser Duncan the Tall is an ancestor of Brienne of Tarth, confirmed by George RR Martin.
2. Aegon V Targaryen is the younger brother of Maestor Aemon, who was working at Castle Black with Jon Snow during Game of Thrones.
3. Ser Duncan once saved Queen Rhaella Targaryen during the Tragedy of the Summer, who later gave birth to Daenerys Targaryen.

For the two leads, Dunk will eventually become the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard, while Egg will become the King of Westeros. However, that is not the plot of this series. The novellas are more about how they first met and their adventures afterwards.

How many seasons will it have?

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms series will have 3 seasons. 

2 seasons are already confirmed, but since there are 3 novellas, there will be 3rd and final season as well to complete the trilogy. The 2nd season is set for release in 2027, so the 3rd will most likely come out in 2028.

If you have never read a Game of Thrones book (like me), I highly recommend it because it is a great entry point into the world of Westeros. It’s just 3 short stories and way less complex than those massive novels.

Is there a dragon in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms?

There will be no dragons in the A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms series.

Most of the dragons didn’t survive the Targaryen Civil War, also known as the Dance of the Dragons. We are actually watching that happening in the House of the Dragon series.

So, the dragons had already been extinct for about 60 years by the time the Dunk and Egg novellas start.

There were some dragon eggs left, but nothing came out of them. That is also the reason why the Targaryen dynasty became weak during this time period.

Finally, here is the official synopsis of the series:

“A century before GOT, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his squire, Egg, wandered through Westeros while the Targaryen dynasty ruled the Iron Throne, and dragons were still remembered. Great destinies and enemies await the incomparable friends. A young and naive but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg, face a series of dangerous exploits.”
