India’s First Hindi‑Dub Hollywood Premiere at Raj Mandir: Jurassic World Rebirth

It is crazy to think but this is the first time ever a Hollywood premiere will happen in India with Hindi dubbing. Jurassic World Rebirth is coming to iconic Raj Mandir!

Jurassic World Rebirth’s premiere at Raj Mandir

Universal Pictures India has announced that Jurassic World Rebirth will have a Hindi-dub premiere at Jaipur’s Raj Mandir.

The event happened on 3 July 2025, one night before Rebirth’s release in India.

Jurassic World Rebirth is the 7th movie in the popular dino-adventure series, with Black Widow actress Scarlett Johansson now in lead role.

Universal has partnered with Warner Bros Discovery India for this premiere.

The studio said that this is to honour the hindi-speaking audience and choosing Raj Mandir for the venue is a tribute to the hindi-dubbed films.

Raj Mandir is Asia’s biggest single-screen theatres with around 1,176 seating capacity. It has seen many Hindi film premieres over the years and movie lovers also call it ‘Cinema ka Mandir’.

Such type of hollywood premiere in India only used to happen at Mumbai or Delhi, but going for Jaipur’s well-known single-screen theatre makes it more special.

Along with the screening, there were be many Dinosaurs themed installations at the event, including an immersive photo zone. 

Who are the guests at the premeire?

It is expected that more than 1,000 people will be attending the Jurassic World Rebirth’s premiere at Raj Mandir. This includes many online creators, digital influencers and people from the press.

One of the special guests will be dubbing director Ashim Samanta, who worked on the original Hindi-dub of Jurassic Park. He mentioned in an interview that it opened a new market for hollywood in India. Ashim is a part of Rebirth’s dubbing too. A nice touch!

Nagma Mirajkar, Ashish Chanchalani, Kunal Chhabhria, Akash Dodeja, Riya Suledia were present at the premiere.

Universal also organized a contest for fans to be a part of it.

First Hollywood Hindi-Dub Premiere in India

Usually, when a hollywood movies has an India premiere, they screen the movie in English language. This is the first time they showcases a hindi-dub version. Why?

Jurassic movies has a great connection to many hollywood fans in India. 1993’s Jurassic Park was the first-ever hollywood movie in India to get a release in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu languages.

For the record, Jurassic Park’s released in India in April 1994, one year after it came out in US.

Nowadays, most big hollywood flicks gets dubbed in local languages. Studios often add Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu options for moviegoers. Sometimes, they even add more languages like Kannada, Malayalam. 

This all started with Jurassic Park’s Hindi dub shows in early 90’s. It was a massive hit with a 25-weeks run and earned more than ₹20 crores at the box-office in India. So, a new installment of the same franchise is the best way to highlight that historic moment.

By the way, 2015’s Jurassic World is also one of highest-grossing hollywood projects in India.

Dubbing the films for local people really helps in the promotion. It increase the excitement among people who might not want to watch the films in English because they find it hard to understand and enjoy the movie at the same time.

Also, it makes for a fun marketing campaign. Sometimes, voice artists adds some regional slangs, making the movie sound more fun and exciting to attract viewers.

However, we also have data that shows that more than 50% (even 70-80% in some cases) of the revenue for a hollywood movie in India still comes from English screenings only. This is true for big Marvel, Fast and Furious, Avatar, DC movies as well.

But Hindi dubbing really has made these foreign movies more accessible to more people in India. So, this first-ever hindi-dub premiere of Rebirth at Raj Mandir acknowledges this legacy.
