The first spin-off movie in the John Wick universe was set to run in theatres today (I am writing this blog on June 6), but it was delayed for fans in India.
Ballerina movie got postponed in India
Whoever thought of putting Ana de Armas in a John Wick-style action movie is a genius, and now we are finally going to witness it soon.
Ana de Armas’s Ballerina movie will hit theatres in India on 13 June 2025. You can watch it in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu languages. Keanu Reeves is also going to make an appearance as John Wick in the movie.
Update: Early Night screenings on 12 June (Thursday) are also organized in many major cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad etc.
Ballerina is getting good reviews from both critics and fans, with praise for its action sequences and Armas’s performance.

Note that PVR Pictures is the main distributor for this film in India.
The release date was originally scheduled for 6 June 2025 but it got delayed one week later because of local competition. First, we have Housefull 5 releasing on 5 June, which will cover most screens in the Hindi belt. Second, Kamal Haasan’s Thug Life is also coming in the same week.
However, I don’t think this is a good move. 6 June is when it would have hit the US and many international markets. The buzz will be at its peak this time. The longer fans have to wait in India, the lesser the buzz will get.
We know most of the people who want to enjoy Ballerina in the cinema would be from big cities and we have multiplexes everywhere now. So, it would have got a decent number of screens on 6 June also. But what’s done is done and now, we can just wait for the next weekend.
There were some rumours that the delay was because of late approval from the Censor Board clearing, but that is not the case. The Ballerina movie is given A certificate with only one swear word censored.
When will the Ballerina come to OTT?
As Lionsgate has delayed this movie for a long time, they are going to invest well in its theatrical run. So, don’t expect Ballerina to drop on OTT platforms soon.
But when it comes, Ballerina will be streaming on Lionsgate Play in India. The digital premiere date is yet to be announced, but .
There is also a chance it will first be released on Netflix for a limited period of time before it moves to Lionsgate Play.

Officially titled ‘From the World of John Wick: Ballerina’, this is the first ever spin-off movie set in the world of John Wick. After 4 amazing John Wick films, they finally decided to bring another action star in the lead role with Ana de Armas.
The story is set between the events of John Wick 3 and 4, Ballerina is a Ruska Roma-trained assassin, who wants to take revenge for her father’s death. Ana de Armas will play the titular character, along with Norman Reedus, Gabriel Byrne, Lance Riddick, Ian McShane and Keanu Reeves in the cast.
