Uncharted movie release in India Details

Treasure-hunting begins. Uncharted movie’s release date in India is 18 February 2022. The movie stars Spider-Man actor Tom Holland in the lead role.

However, it got mixed reviews from critics with praise for Tom’s performance but got criticized for the lazy screenplay.

3D and IMAX update

Uncharted movie will not release in 3D, it is only available in 2D. This might disappoint some fans because most Indians love watching movies with 3D glasses.

But there is some good news. Uncharted will be released in IMAX format with select scenes shot in a 1.90:1 aspect ratio. Arri Alexa cameras are used for these scenes, which are also used for some recent MCU movies in IMAX.

Hindi, Tamil, Telugu dubbing?

Uncharted is getting a major release in India with dubbing in all 4 languages including Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

And here is one more great update for Hindi fans. Vaibhav Thakkar is the official voice actor for Tom Holland’s character in Uncharted. He has also dubbed for him in Spider-Man No Way Home’s Hindi version.

OTT Streaming Update

Patience! You have to wait for a few weeks to watch it at home. It is exclusive in theatres on the initial release date. There is no official update on when and where it will land in the streaming world in future.

But most likely, Netflix will be the streaming platform for the Uncharted movie because Sony already has made a deal with Netflix for their films.

Final Cast

One of the biggest USPs of the movie is the cast. Spider-Man actor Tom Holland is leading the cast as Nathan Drake, along with Mark Wahlberg as Victor Sullivan. Other major actors in the movie are Antonio Banderas, Tati Gabrielle and Sophia Ali. 

You might want to know more about Sophia. She is an American actress of Pakistani descent. Her last major role was playing Dr Dahlia Qadri in Grey’s Anatomy show.

She also played the lead character in an American-comedy film titled ‘Indian Sweets and Spices’ with Indian actresses Manisha Koirala and Adil Hussain.

About the Movie

Many fans, especially gamers, know that this movie is based on a popular Sony Playstation video game ‘Uncharted’. This game series has 9 releases till now with love from both fans and developers.

Just after the first game in 2007, producer Avi Arad was ready to adapt it into a movie. But it took more than 14 releases to get in on the big screen. This is the first time a Playstation is going to Hollywood.

Now Ruben Fleischer is directing the movie, who also directed many other Sony Pictures movies like Zombieland (2009) and Venom (2018). 

Finally, here is the official synopsis of the movie: ”Street-smart Nathan Drake (Tom Holland) is recruited by seasoned treasure hunter Victor “Sully” Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg) to recover a fortune amassed by Ferdinand Magellan and lost 500 years ago by the House of Moncada. What starts as a heist job for the duo becomes a globe-trotting, white-knuckle race to reach the prize before the ruthless Santiago Moncada (Antonio Banderas), who believes he and his family are the rightful heirs.”
