Let the dream begin because Sandman is coming with its second and final season! The first thing to note is that it will drop in not just 2, but 3 parts.
Sandman Season 2 coming in July 2025
Just a week after the Squid Game final season 3 will drop, you can enjoy the new episodes of The Sandman. So, take the most advantage of your Netflix subscription this month.
Season 2 of The Sandman will be released in two parts: Volume 1 on 3 July and Volume 2 on 24 July 2025.
- Volume 1 will have 6 episodes
- Volume 2 will have 5 episodes
However, there will also be a bonus episode that will drop on 31 July 2025. Titled “The Sandman Presents: Death: The High Cost of Living”, this is similar to how they gave us a bonus episode last time as well. So, there will be a total of 12 episodes in the second season.
You can watch The Sandman season 2 on Netflix. The official release time will be 12:30 PM in India. This time is set for both Volumes and the bonus special.

Tom Sturridge will be back in the titular role, along with Clive Russell, Laurence O’Fuarain, Indya Moore and Jack Gleeson, who played Joffrey Baratheon on the Game of Thrones.
Why Did Netflix cancel it after 2nd season?
Netflix is notorious for cancelling some of its popular shows. However, this time the reason is not because the show didn’t achieve great viewing metrics for the streaming service. The cancellation happened because of the limited material to adapt from.
Here’s what showrunner showrunner Allan Heinberg said after the cancellation:
“The Sandman series has always been focused exclusively on Dream’s story, and back in 2022 when we looked at the remaining Dream material from the comics, we knew we only had enough story for one more season.”
Heinberg has also confirmed that this will be a completion of Dream’s journey, so there is no cliffhanger to ruin the ending. He also promised all the best parts of the comics would be included, combined with many surprises.
Here’s what he told Entertainment Weekly:
“We managed to add a great deal of material, as we did in season 1, and a lot of really fun surprises for fans of the comics who know the entire story. We pulled from a lot of different sources. We took a lot of the single-issue stories and wove them into the fabric of Dream’s narrative.”
Overall, it was always the plan from the beginning to just adapt the most iconic Sandman comics and not stretch it too thin by just adapting everything.
More About The Show
Sandman is one of the most beautiful comics in modern history. Written by Neil Gaiman, its original run started in 1989 and after 75 issues, it ended in 1996. This dark fantasy genre was very unique at that time with mature themes inside it.
The popularity meant it needed to be presented in a live-action format. While many attempts were made before, it finally came in the form of a web series with a partnership from Netflix and Warner Bros Entertainment.
Season 1 released on 5 August 2022 and got massive praise for his production design and performances. Netflix immediately renewed it after the premiere.
The new season will start only a week after the events of season 1. Morpheus is now building a new palace but the villains from his past have also come back to take their revenge. There will be new revelations and confrontations.
We will get a reunion of the endless family as well as new gods from other universes like Thor, Odin and Loki. From the Indie vibes of season 1 to the family drama of season 2, this will be quite something to look out for.
